Summary + Critique on movie" Mean girl"

Summary:
Cady Heron, studying in home school in Africa and moving to America with her parents, transfered to The North shore High school. The first day in the new school was very unhappy, embarrased, afraid and isolated because Cady never has involved in any social behaviors in the real school before. At the second day, Janis and Damian introduced every groups in cafeteria to Cady and bewared her away the plastics including Regina, Karen and Gretchen. Also, Cady met Aaron who is Regina's ex- boyfriend in Ms. Norbury's Calculus class, yet Cady accidentally met the plastics. Since that day, Cady started to hang out with the plastics because she thought that a girl world was not as same as her African world was. Once time in Regina's house, the plastics let Cady look at the Burn Book which wrote down every rumours about each girl at school. Even though Janis tried to warm Cady many times about The plastics, Cady was too innocent until Regina made up with Aaron again. Cady thought that Regina tricked her, so Cady started to revenge Regina. As Janis's plan. Cady kept hanging out with the plastics and starting to trick Regina. Bringing foot creme instead of the facial creme, making jealousy among the plastics, telling Aaron about Regina's cheat, giving Regina those strange sweeter bars had done well. However, Cady broke her promise with Janis because she was a new queen at school and has a party instead of going to art show. Janis and Damian was really disappointed with her as well as Regina knew Cady's lies, so she was extremely mad. Regina released all rumours from the Burn book at school. From that, all girls went banana and fighted to each other. Actually, Ms Norbury was a victim of that BUrn book. All Cady's friend and teacher were so upset about her because she ran away the truth and thought that was Janis's plan. After all, Cady told everyone she wrote the Burn book because she was so upset about everyone. EVenthough it wasn't all her fault, Cady was ashamed of herself. At the end, Cady had Ms. Norbury's forgiveness and from all friends. For the reason, she broke the plastics rule and the queen's crown, so everyone is friend to each other.
Critique:
The movie " Mean Girl" introduced about different typical girls in American highschool. The language used during movie is very informal such as slut, nerd, and etc. The movie included many sexual scenes and spoil behaviors which are not suitable for young adolecent view. The movie is bias because student's attidudes were very anger, fool and aggressive. In the fact that many school have good attitude students as well as negative behavious students do. However, Mean Girl just only show all negative attitude at school. In my opinion, showing the negative attitude is the director's purpose which proved to audiences the good and the bad. There is also the result that young girls can usually choose and act in some wrong way, yet they will be older and understand more when they make mistake. For example, Cady broke the plastic crown meaning that she broke the plastics and broke the distance among friends. From the movie, I have learned and understood about thinking of young teenager girls. In the movie, girls divided in many groups such as not eating group, eating a lot group, unfriendly group, cool asian group, sexual group. From those reasons, as the young adolecent time, girl's psychology develops in different. As long as, they got used to the progress, they may got unhealthy psychology. For example, the girls eating nothing will easy to get aneroxia, or Regina Geogre was totally mad because of her strict diet. More over, sexuality in the adolecence has many negative effect such as getting physical diseases, easily getting stress, having emotional disorder, having depression or anxiety. In clusion, the movie Meaning girl expressing the real life in America highschool helps some of young girls noticing the message from that. Living healthily, having friends, acting normally can be a good step for later.

critique on "Human Emotion lecture" Psh156: lect2
The lecture was about the Human emotion, and the professor taught about the introduction of emotion. According to the lecture, professor gave a lot of examples like stories, situation and explain them all. After explaining, professor connected examples to the definition. When the professor gave the example, he showed the video with the faces of students showing what is emotion on their face. The professor always ask question and wait for response. The interaction between professor and students were very often. As the question, he explained depth and details. In fact, he guided what would next and what would be very important. Moreover, the professor acted physically on his face to show each physically movement for each definition. I've never been in Vietnamese university before. Therefore, I just can image that the professor and students are not very interacted to each other because vietnamese students are very shy in the lecture hall. The vietnamese professor required the respect of listening and not often asking. I think that the methods use with power point, video are the same . I found the easiest to understand is the emotional expression because he told the story and acted many action to describe the way emotion express like huge, smile... The most difficult to understand is about the comparision psychologial theory within the other experts. That made me confused, and I got lost a bit at that point. However, I could catch the next step when he gave the example about Edwin's definition. I think this lecture is very helpful for me to have the basic idea about the social behavoir which I need to research for my project.

week 2 reflection
My reflection about the second week was not easy to say about. I felt that it was easy at the beginning of the week, yet it was hard and stressful at the end. The most interesting part was vocabulary and the test. Actucally, I had to prepar for all vocabularies which I need for the Test. Therefore, weekend on the second week was very busy. In fact, the most tough assignment is the final project. I spent almost weekend for narrowing my subject and trying to find the other articles. Unfortunately, finding articles relating to the final project was so hard and complicated, so I got lost among too broad information. On the contrast, I had to plan my topic and supports for the final project, so I was so tired for the third week. I hated the changing and bothering weather on weekend. My mood did not feel good, nor do I feel enjoyed class. Even though I did feel so great on the beginning of week 3, I was really enjoy the documents about the Wal marts. So far, I have learned how to critique as I listening the document. Therefore, on the second week my feeling was not really frustrated. I hope more interesting assigments coming up.
critique on "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price"
In "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price", the director Robert Greenwald indicated about an overview of the Wal-Mart's controveries in the United states which are including competeting and ruining local business, employee's benefits, a working condition and employee's uninon. By a persuasion with so many employee's interviews of Wal_Mart, the documentary included much emotional , and the director gave his or her bias on this documentary.
According to the documentary, many interviews showed the real emotions such as depressed, frustrated, disappointed, ruined, unfair. The director used so many emotions that his persuasion might be successful. For example, one of those was the sadness and ruin of the local hardware business seemed to close because of the explosion of Wal-Mart in U.S. More over, the bias of this documentary illustrated the right for employee needing improvement in Wal-Mart. Even though the documentary introduced both interviews of employees and CEO of the Wal-Mart, the bias has showed literally. For the reason, the short scene of CEO speech was took from a part of the meeting or documetary. This bias might be weak because there was no evidence or direct interview from CEO or the other managers of Wal-Mart. On the one hand, most of interviews showed the annoyance about the wal-mart from local bussiness and employees. Comparing with Wal-mart in the other countries, my friend told that the Wal-Mart in Korea was bankruptcy, so the Korea bought all branches and turned into the Korean national brand. Futher more, Wal-mart were very successful in China from my Chinese friend's opinion. From this documentary, China and the United States had the same problem about the wal-mart's controversies. It seems to appear that employee still work for Wal-Mart without benefit because the incomes for family. The Wal-mart has been successful not only because the price is cheaper but also the branches are opened in the high unemployment rates. The documentary stressed about the union of the Wal-mart employee, yet a half of them went for unionizing. The failure of the Wal-mart working condition is very unexpectedly. My reflection about Wal-Mart was not so bad. After watching the documentary, I have found that all successful brands have their own selfishness and greed.
In conlusion, the documentary appears biased, its arguments based on too little evidence to persuade, and the language and the interview is very emotional. This documentary has successful illustration on the employee and local people about the Wal-Mart's controversies about the working condition and local business. However, it failed on the contrast of CEO and rare authentic statistic sources.
